About Us
Sweet House Bakery is an NYC based, small business, created and run by two highschoolers, Jackie and Cole.
When Cole and Jackie first met, one of their very first conversations was about cooking. In the moment it seemed like two teenagers who were just trying to get to know each other, but as their love deepened, conversations about their connection to cooking became an essential part to understanding each other. Up in Huntington, little Cole would be making yayas famous cheesecake with her, as he had flour all over himself. Even though it was hard to understand her due to the language barrier, the cheesecake was proof of the undeniable bond. Even though yaya eventually forgot her own recipes due to dementia, Cole carried on her memory through the techniques she taught him. Down over in Brooklyn Bath Beach, little Jacqueline was helping her mom whip the icing to another cake order. She was second generation to her mom, both growing up in two vastly different cultures. There wasn’t laughter or reassurance throughout helping her mom with the small cake business, but the love always came through. When her birthday came around she always got the best cake, better than any cake mom ever sold. Growing up they both took this special bond in the kitchen and turned it into fruition after meeting each other. Cole and Jacqueline both grew up with a special bond in the kitchen, which they each brought forward to serve as the foundation of their connection. As they grew closer, they learned each other's preferences, eating habits, family recipes, and how to start a business together. But yet again, two people from such foreign backgrounds, defined by their individual mindsets and principles are bound to have their differences. However, Jacqueline and Cole never let that cultural gap allow them to misunderstand each other. No matter what the two faced, Cole never forgot Jackie's favorite food.
